POSITION:                  Sales Manager

REPORTS TO:            CEO

FLSA STATUS:          Salary – Exempt

 

 

PURPOSE:

The Sales Manager will oversee the sales operations of the bakery. The role involves managing a team of sales account managers, marketing, and customer service specialists to achieve the company’s sales goals and drive growth. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
    • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
    • Prepare sales forecasts and budgets in collaboration with senior management.
  2. Team Management:
    • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of four sales account managers, one marketing manager, and three customer service specialists.
    • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations to the sales team.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  3. Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
    • Support relationships with broadline distributors.
    • Handle high-level customer inquiries and resolve complex issues.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty through exceptional service.
    • Perform both prospecting and account management tasks, such as customer insight gathering, price intelligence, forecasting, customer development planning, customer service delivery and contract/price management
    • Plan and attend meetings and events, including industry trade shows, to generate new opportunities of business.
    • Develop and execute market plans, including strategic sales objectives and tactical, plans to meet annual sales targets.
    • Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner.
  4. Sales Operations:
    • Oversee day-to-day sales operations and ensure efficient processes.
    • Monitor sales metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., production, finance) to ensure seamless operations.
  5. Marketing and Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the marketing manager to develop and execute marketing campaigns.
    • Identify and participate in trade shows, events, and other promotional activities.
    • Utilize digital marketing and social media platforms to increase brand visibility and sales.
  6. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare regular sales reports for senior management.
    • Analyze sales data and provide insights and recommendations.
    • Adjust sales strategies based on data analysis and market feedback.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Proven experience as a Sales Manager or in a similar leadership role, preferably in the food or bakery industry.
    • Strong understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze data, develop strategies, and make data-driven decisions.
    • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite. Computer proficiency for reports is required.

SQF Compliance: This position is responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to the manager, The SQF Practioner or directly to senior management.
